Nissan is all set to launch a six-speed automated manual transmission(AMT) on its Terrano SUV, and has commenced bookings for the same. The automatic transmission will be offered only on the top-of-the-line XVD Premium variant.

The AMT-equipped Terrano is likely to be priced between Rs 13.75 – 13.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and can be booked for an initial deposit of Rs.25,000. The car is expected to go on sale later this month.

As with the AMT-equipped Renault Duster that was launched earlier this year, the six-speed AMT is mated to the Terrano’s 1.5-litre diesel engine in its 110hp state of tune, and not in the 85hp version. It delivers an ARAI-rated 19.61kpl.

Along with the option of the AMT gearbox, depending on the variant, the Terrano will also get new equipment like electrically folding outside rear-view mirrors with integrated turn signals, anti-pinch driver-side windows and a new driver armrest. The AMT variant additionally gets Hill Assist Control and Electronic Stability Program (ESP). There’s also a new Sandstone Brown paint scheme being offered on the SUV.

The Nissan Terrano rivals the Renault Duster, the Hyundai Creta, the Honda BR-V and the Maruti S-cross. While the Duster too offers the option of an AMT automatic on the 110hp diesel, the Creta uses a torque converter automatic on both petrol and diesel variants, and the BR-V gets the option of a CVT automatic in the petrol version. The S-cross though, does not offer the option of an automatic gearbox.
