Tata Motors has launched a powerful and efficient diesel version of its Indica hatch, called the Indica eV2. As per company claims, the Indica eV2 is the most efficient car running on our roads, returning a figure of 25kpl, a 46 percent improvement over its predecessor.

Powering the hatch is a new 1405cc CR4 Common Rail diesel, developing a healthy 69bhp and 14.28kgm of max torque. This gives the new Indica eV2 a power boost of 32 percent and also a 65 percent increase in torque as compared to the older V2.

The Indica eV2 gets improved gear ratios and starter motor protection. The car is now lighter by around 10kg benefitting pickup. It sports bigger 14-inch wheels among other added features.

The Tata Indica eV2 is also available with the MPFI petrol engine to provide customers with a wider choice. Both these engines are compliant with BS4 emission norms.

The new Tata Indica eV2 offers two useful features; the Auto-Drive Assist that works similar to hill assist, and Clutch-To-Start feature which ensures one cannot crank the engine unless the clutch is fully engaged, thus avoiding the risk of re-crank if the engine is already on.

On the looks front, the car gets sporty alloy wheels, attractive decals, a new tail light cluster and rear bumper. On the inside, the new Indica eV2 gets beige interiors, with the top trim sporting a wooden finish centre console.

It also gets a host of other features like power windows, keyless entry, Bluetooth enabled music system and USB port, 4 spoke collapsible steering wheel, 60:40 rear seating, and front and rear fog lamps. The car now comes with a warranty of 24 months or 75,000km whichever is earlier.

The Tata Indica eV2 CR4 diesel is priced at Rs 3.95lakh for the base variant, going up to Rs 4.77lakh for the top-end variant. Prices of the new eV2 petrol variant starts from Rs 2.95lakh and rising up to Rs 3.58lakh (prices ex-showroom Delhi).
