Homegrown carmaker Tata Motors today moved the National Green Tribunal (NGT) seeking clarification against the Supreme Court's decision to curb registration of diesel vehicles with engine capacity of 2,000cc and above in the Delhi-NCR region, according to reports.

In its appeal to the tribunal, Tata Motors said that while the apex court’s orders were concerned with private vehicles, the State's transport department is refusing to register diesel commercial vehicles as well. It sought explanation on whether there was any ban on registration of medium and heavy commercial diesel vehicles.

Calling for a rational decision to be taken, a company official informed Autocar India that the Delhi-NCR region accounts for a significant chunk of the sales and the lack of clarity in the ruling has impacted sales of commercial vehicles. The tribunal will now hear the case on August 24, 2016.

Separately, the Indian arm of German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz on Monday, August 8, filed a plea in the Supreme Court to lift the ongoing ban and expressed willingness to pay the environmental cess of one percent on the sale of diesel cars.

X3 may not be the fastest but is the liveliest. Discovery Sport TD4 can’t match the others on performance.

Smooth and quiet GLC is actually quicker than it feels.

GLC cabin feels the most luxurious.

Rear-seat base is a tad short.

7-inch screen looks small.

X3 dash sticks to BMW template.

Rear seating position isn’t great.

Driving modes alter suspension too.

Discovery's cabin looks and feels long lasting.

Discovery seat good for three.

Terrain Response works incredibly.
