India’s status as the small car manufacturer of the world got a major shot in arm at the 10th Auto Expo, with all major manufacturers showing production ready cars or concepts headed for production.
With Toyota showcasing the Etios small car and sedan, Honda too displayed it small car concept. There were other significant cars unveiled at the expo as well, like the much awaited Volkswagen Polo, Chevrolet’s fantastically priced Beat, the electric Spark, Tata Motors’ Aria and Magic Iris, Maruti’s Eeco and the RIII concept, Renault’s attractive Fluence and the SUV Koleos, Skoda’s Yeti, Audi A7 Sportback, BMW X1 and 5-series GT, Merc’s SLS AMG and the GL-class, Jaguar XJ, and Hyundai i10 electric.
However, missing in action were Nissan and Ford. Both companies also plan on introducing new hatchbacks into the Indian market this year, the all new Micra and the Figo respectively, but were absent from the show.
