The next-generation Hyundai Santa Fe was launched at a starting price of Rs 26.3 lakh on the first day of the Auto Expo 2014. The new Santa Fe is bigger than before - it's both longer and wider, but it retains the same wheelbase. And, like every new Hyundai car, the full-size, seven-seat Santa Fe will come fully loaded with more creature comforts than you could have asked for. But, just how well does the new Santa Fe stack up against its rivals – the Ssang Yong Rexton, Chevrolet Captiva and Toyota Fortuner?  We’ve compiled a breakdown of the features and prices to make choosing between these full-sized SUVs that much easier. 

 

 Let's start with the prices. The Santa Fe is priced at Rs 26.3 lakh for the base 4x2 manual, Rs 27.33 lakh for the 4x2 automatic and Rs 29.25 lakh for the top 4x4 automatic (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). 

 

Toyota’s popular Fortuner starts at Rs 22.40 lakh for the 4x2 Manual, Rs 23.68 for the 4x4 manual and Rs 24.03 for the top 4x2 auto TRD variant. 

 

The Chevrolet Captiva starts at Rs 23.65 for the 4x2 version and goes up to Rs 25.83 lakh for the 4x4 variant. 

 

SsangYong offers the Rexton in just two trims, priced at Rs 19.40 lakh for the Manual RX5 variant and Rs 21.69 lakh for the automatic RX7 variant – making the Rexton the most affordable of the four. Continued..
