An image of the Mercedes-Benz S-class coupe has been leaked on the internet ahead of the production car's debut at the Geneva motor show in March. The new flagship (codenamed C117) is based on the same platform as the all-new S-class and will serve as the replacement of the current CL.
The S-class coupe concept was showcased last year at the Frankfurt motor show and recently, it had been spied testing. Spy photos of the test mule hinted that most of the interiors of the concept would be carried over to the production model. With use of the all-new platform, the coupe's ride and handling are expected to improve significantly. Some additional features like Magic Body Control should also help this.
It is expected that the new coupé will have the same 7G-Tronic Plus seven-speed auto 'box and the same optional all-wheel drive as its sister car. The coupé is unlikely to get the same wide choice of engines as the four-door, but the 449bhp 4.7-litre V8 and 577bhp 5.4-litre V8 engines and a range-topping all-wheel drive 621bhp V12 all seem likely for production.
The CL replacement is likely to go on sale internationally sometime in the latter half of the year.
