Rolls-Royce has rolled out a major update for the Spectre electric coupe, bringing greater range, more power and reduced charging times. Dubbed the Spectre Series II, it now gets a new battery cell technology that boosts range and reduces charging time thanks to improved cooling and greater energy density. Rolls-Royce has also expanded the range of personalisation options available for buyers through its Bespoke division.

Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II mechanical updates
The most significant updates on the new Spectre are under the skin. It now gets a new battery architecture that is shared with the recently unveiled BMW i7. Like the i7, it continues with a 400V electrical architecture, but range figures for both the standard and Black Badge models have gone up by 18 percent, while charging times have been cut by 14 percent. This is courtesy of the new ‘Gen6’ cylinder cells in the battery, which is supplied by the parent company BMW.
Using a 112.4kWh battery, the standard Spectre now has a claimed range of up to 628km, while the Black Badge offers up to 629km. Charging the regular Spectre with a 22kW AC unit from 0-100 percent now takes 5 hours 45 minutes, while the Black Badge takes 5 hours 30 minutes.
It’s also up on power and torque, with the standard Spectre now producing 601hp and 1015Nm, up from 585hp and 900Nm. Meanwhile, the Spectre Black Badge remains the most powerful ever produced with 680hp and 1,100Nm of torque in ‘Spirited’ mode. The Spectre uses a dual-motor setup with one motor on each axle.

Rolls-Royce says the Spectre is its second-most personalised car after the Phantom, which is why it now gets a wider range of customisation options. Standard updates include a new Ethereal Blue paint shade and new 23-inch handcrafted alloy wheels available in two finishes: part-polished and fully polished. Meanwhile, the Spectre Black Badge gets new Iced Black exterior detailing, which replaces the glossy black surfaces with a new matte finish, including for the Spirit of Ecstasy.
Meanwhile, the interior gets an expanded palette of materials, treatments and crafted details. These include what Rolls-Royce is calling the Duality Twill – a bamboo-based rayon upholstery embroidered with an ‘RR’ logo pattern. It can incorporate up to 2.6 million stitches and 10 miles of thread and takes up to 25 hours to put together. Buyers can also have their leather seats laser-cut to reveal ‘unique artworks underneath’. There’s also a new illuminated dashboard panel with 8,108 individual pixels, a new clock influenced by ‘precision aviation instruments’ and a new ‘Tiger stripe’ veneer with infused glass flakes for a shimmering effect.
Rolls-Royce says the Spectre is now its second highest-selling model after the Cullinan.
