Renault Kwid Outsider concept showcased at Sao Paulo auto show 2016

In addition to displaying a more off-road attuned Duster concept, Renault has stuck to the off-roading theme and showcased another concept of the yet-to-be-launched Brazilian-spec Kwid. 

Called the Kwid Outsider, the concept features extensive use of body cladding, large wheels, faux skid plates front and back along with green accents across the surface. In terms of overall looks, the Outsider concept bears similarities to the Kwid Climber concept that Renault showcased at the Auto Expo earlier in February this year.

While exterior design reflects the design of the Kwid sold in India, the interior gets some notable changes. It misses out on the digital instrument cluster and comes with an analogue unit. The centre console is also revised with switchgear for the door locks and power windows located right under the touchscreen infotainment system instead at the bottom of the centre console. The top glovebox has been replaced with a passenger airbag. Another noticeable change is the inclusion of an adjustable rear headrests, with one for a centre occupant as well.

The concept also gets a fair bit of kit with such as a rear wash/wiper, rear defogger and electric adjust wing mirrors.

While a launch in South American markets is pending, the Kwid has been a hit with Indian buyers. Renault has been releasing variants of the Kwid in India at quite a rapid pace to keep the momentum going and the Brazilian Kwid’s features could well be on its way to our market as well.
