Renault India has announced that they will increase the prices of all its vehicles in India. Rising input costs for the company has been attributed as the cause of the price rise. With effect from January 1, 2015, Renault vehicles will be dearer by 2.5 percent.

In accordance to this, the Pulse will be dearer by Rs 11,153, the Scala by Rs 18,113, and the Fluence by Rs 34,975. The Koleos and Duster will also be more expensive, with the price going up by Rs 55,000 and Rs 19,650 respectively. These have been calculated based on the starting price of each car (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Commenting on the price hike announcement, Rafael Treguer, vice president, sales and marketing, Renault India said, "So far we have absorbed the rising input costs, but a sustained challenging market environment has compelled us to increase our prices. The industry is eagerly looking forward to pro-business policies to reignite the automobile industry in India.”

This comes soon after Nissan made a similar announcement earlier this month for the Nissan and Datsun brands – an increase of 2.5 percent across its range, to be in effect from January 1, 2015. Hyundai, BMW, Maruti are amongst other carmakers that have announced a price hike.
