Porsche has unveiled the 911 GT3 S/C, marking the first time the GT3 has been offered with a fully automatic convertible roof. The GT3 S/C is not a limited-production model and will be offered as a regular variant in the 911 line-up. The new model combines the naturally aspirated engine of the GT3 with lightweight construction derived from the 911 S/T, and is configured as a two-seater.

Porsche 911 GT3 S/C engine and performance

The GT3 S/C is powered by a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine producing 510hp and 450Nm of torque. The engine revs to 9,000rpm and features revised cylinder heads compared to the previous-generation 911 GT3, and the more aggressive camshafts carried over from the GT3 RS. It is offered exclusively with a short-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox. Porsche claims a 0-100kph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 313kph.

The GT3 S/C uses extensive lightweight materials derived from the 911 S/T. The bonnet, front wings and doors are made from carbon fibre, while magnesium is used in the wheels and parts of the roof structure. The PCCB carbon-ceramic braking system is fitted as standard and contributes to weight reduction compared to conventional brakes. A lightweight and compact 40 Ah lithium-ion battery is also used. Despite the addition of the convertible mechanism, the GT3 S/C has a weight of 1,497kg. The chassis setup mirrors that of the GT3 with Touring Package and includes a double wishbone front axle.
Porsche 911 GT3 S/C exterior design

The GT3 S/C features a fully automatic fabric roof. It uses magnesium structural elements and is designed to maintain a coupe-like profile when closed. It can be opened or closed in around 12 seconds, either while stationary or at speeds of up to 50kph. An electrically operated wind deflector is also integrated to improve usability in open-top driving conditions.
The design retains key GT3 elements, including the front lip, rear diffuser and a retractable rear spoiler with a Gurney flap, as seen on the 911 S/T. The front lighting units now integrate all functions within the main headlamps, allowing for larger area for the air intakes in the bumper.
Porsche 911 GT3 S/C interior and features

Inside, the GT3 S/C is configured as a two-seater, similar to the 911 Speedster. It comes standard with four-way adjustable Sports Seats Plus, while lightweight carbon-fibre bucket seats are available as an option.
The cabin features lightweight elements such as reduced-weight carpets and carbon-fibre pull handles. The digital instrument cluster includes a Track Screen mode that displays essential driving information such as tyre pressures, oil temperature, coolant temperature. Shift lights are integrated into the display to indicate optimal gear changes. The car comes with rotary ignition switch mounted to the left of the steering wheel. An optional Street Style Package adds cosmetic changes such as unique interior trims, contrasting stitching and exterior graphics.
The 911 GT3 S/C is now available to order globally. Porsche has not announced any plans for an India launch yet.
