Porsche has revealed the facelifted 911 GTS line-up at the Detroit auto show 2017 prior to the line-up’s international launch in the coming months. The updated GTS line-up, which includes five new 911 models: Carrera GTS, Carrera Cabriolet GTS, Carrera 4 GTS, Carrera 4 Cabriolet GTS and Targa 4 GTS –  all of which run a powered-up version of the German carmaker’s turbocharged 3.0-litre horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine.

With 450hp, the forced induction engine delivers around 30hp more than in the facelifted 911 Carrera S and 20hp more than the naturally aspirated 3.8-litre flat-six cylinder unit used in earlier 911 GTS models.

The new engine also pumps out 550Nm of torque at 2,150rpm, giving the 2017-model-year 911 GTS models an added 110Nm some 3,600rpm earlier in the rev range than with the engine used by their predecessors.

As before, buyers will be able to choose between a standard seven-speed manual and an optional seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox. While the Carrera GTS and Carrera Cabriolet GTS retain rear-wheel drive, the Carrera 4 GTS, Carrera 4 Cabriolet GTS and Targa 4 GTS all receive standard four-wheel drive.

The performance leader is the four-wheel-drive 911 Carrera 4 GTS, which boasts a claimed 0-100kph time of 3.6sec, with the lighter rear-drive 911 Carrera GTS claiming the highest top-speed at 312kph.

Setting the facelifted 911 GTS models apart from other facelifted 911 models is a unique front bumper and modified rear spoiler.  The four-wheel-drive Carrera 4 and Targa 4 versions also receive a characteristic light trim strip between the tail lights, while the rear-drive versions use a black trim strip.

There are also darkened tail lamp lenses, a blackened air intake grill with the engine lid, centrally-mounted tailpipes in black, and GTS logos within the lower part of the doors.

Inside, the seats receive GTS logos on the headrests and the steering wheel rim. The armrests and centre console are all trimmed in Alcantara, while brushed black aluminium trim strips have been fitted to the instrument cluster.

All of the GTS models receive the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system, which sees them ride 10mm lower than the standard 911 models. Also included as standard are 20-inch centre lock alloy wheels finished in silk-gloss black.

All of them also flaunt the four-wheel-drive 911 Carrera 4’s aluminium body shell, giving them a common width of 1,852mm and wider track measurements than standard rear-wheel-drive 911 models, while it also gets the Sport Chrono Package as standard equipment.
