As part of a global recall exercise, Nissan Motor India has issued a recall for 22,188 units of its Micra and Sunny models produced at its Oragadam, Chennai plant to replace the master brake cylinder in these vehicles, manufactured between June 2012 and March 2013.

The company is going ahead with the voluntary recall exercise to maintain high level of customer safety and service. There is a likelihood that those driving these cars may experience longer brake pedal travel under light braking. In extreme cases, reduced braking performance is possible, due to which the distance required to bring the vehicle to a halt may increase.

Nissan Motor India says it will replace the faulty component free of charge and has informed its dealers about the same. "Nissan plans to begin notifying individual customers. Nissan dealers will replace the master brake cylinder at no cost to the customer. Nissan is committed to a high level of customer safety, service and satisfaction and is working with its dealers to promptly address this issue."

Nissan’s global recall will see a total of 67,089 Micra and Sunny vehicles recalled across its market in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.

The Japanese carmaker has also globally recalled nearly 250,000 units owing to an issue with the fuel rail pressure sensor used in direct injection type engines of some of its models. This particular recall includes 9,600 units of the made-in-Chennai Micra which were exported to Europe.
