The new Audi Q5, expected to make its debut in 2016, was spotted with a rather discreet camouflage. Prominent parts of the car such as the front end, tail-lights and roof pillars were covered in body-coloured camouflage.

The Q5, like the new Q7, will be based on the latest MLB platform. The new Q5 gets rectangular headlamps, a large, prominent grille and air vents on the front bumper. The wheel arches have been noticeably flared, while the rear has a clamshell-style tailgate with integrated tail-lamps as on the current car. The Q5 is expected to be a tad bigger than its predecessor in an attempt to generate a gap between itself and the Q3. The new Q5 will borrow numerous new technologies from the Q7 SUV, including the new MMI infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a new touchpad in the centre console.

The Q5 is expected to be powered by a range of four-cylinder and V6 petrol and diesel engines, that will be carried over from the new A4.

It is also believed that the high-powered SQ5 will make a comeback with both diesel and petrol engines, possibly packing more punch than the current versions – 335bhp and 96.7 kgm in the SQ5 TDI Plus, and 350bhp and 64.97kgm in the SQ5 TFSI.

The new Audi Q5 will be assembled at the new factory in San José Chiapa, Mexico.
