Here are the first pictures and details of Audi’s facelifted Q5, which will be launched at the Paris Motor Show later this year.

The mid-life refresh is more than just skin-deep. In addition to minor design upgrades, the Q5 engines get enhanced performance and will be more efficient too.

The Q5’s entry-level model, the 2.0 TDI, now develops 4bhp more than its predecessor. The 3.0-litre V6 TDI gets a negligible 1bhp boost in power but gets 8kgm of torque more than the outgoing model, improving acceleration considerably. The biggest upgrade goes to the 2.0-litre TFSI model that receives changes in the control of valves and their stroke, improved thermal management and a revised fuel injection system, turbocharger and integration of the exhaust manifold in the cylinder head. These updates have increased power by 10bhp, to 221bhp.

The facelifted SUV gets lightly revised bumpers, grille headlamp graphics and tailpipes. The interior remains the same, except for new trims to provide a higherquality feel.

Of the big three, Audi has the freshest range in India with a slew of new launches last year and many more slated for this year. The Q3 will be launched soon, followed by a facelifted A4. The Q5 will arrive by year-end.
