Honda’s Head of cars, UK, Leon Brannan has confirmed to our sister publication Autocar UK, that the next-generation CR-V will be a more premium offering, with the company targeting customers of the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Volvo XC60.

He said that there was a possibility that the new CR-V, due in 2017, would be offered as a
7-seater and with four-wheel drive as standard, but didn’t reveal any more details.

The CR-V recently underwent a facelift in international markets, while the Indian model has remained unchanged, except for a minor update, made earlier this year, to the top-trim model.
This update saw the addition of features like keyless entry and go and a touch-screen infotainment system.

In India, Honda is planning to launch an all-new 7-seater SUV positioned below the CR-V in its line-up. The new SUV, named BR-V will be unveiled this year, before being showcased at the Auto Expo 2016. The BR-V is expected to be launched in India sometime next year. Honda is also set to bring the new Accord to India next year. The large sedan will be launched as a petrol variant only, with a hybrid expected in the future.
