Honda had showcased the conceptual version of its tenth-generation Civic at the New York auto show in April. Now official patent sketches for the new Civic have been leaked on the internet.

The next generation of the Civic will be based on a shortened version of the current Accord, making it an all-new platform. The new Civic is also expected to get Honda’s new range of 1.5-litre turbo VTEC engines.

From the sketches leaked, it can be seen that the production car will not be as aggressively styled as the concept. At the front, the car gets the ‘flying H’ design with angular headlamps flowing into the grille. At the back, the car gets redesigned tail-lamps based on the units on the concept unveiled in New York.

As per reports, the new Civic is expected to be unveiled sometime later this year, with production likely to start internationally by early 2016.

In India, Honda discontinued the Civic range citing falling demand, the lack of a diesel engine and shrinking market share of the D-segment sedans. There is no hint from the company if the Civic will be re-introduced with the tenth-generation model.
