Mitsubishi has unveiled the facelifted Outlander PHEV. Like with the standard Outlander facelift revealed earlier this year, the PHEV takes styling cues from the PHEV Concept-S that debuted in September last year.

In terms of styling, the PHEV looks almost similar to the standard facelifted Outlander but gets a few minor styling differences. The chrome grille gets narrower slats and the front bumper’s styling is slightly different from the standard car. Unlike the large singular airdam on the standard car, the PHEV gets body coloured trim that divides the airdam in two. The thin strip of chrome along the top and outside edge of the fog-lamps is also missing in the PHEV. The PHEV also misses out on the black body cladding and silver trim on the lower door panels. The 18-inch dual-tone alloys are unique to the PHEV.

Inside, the facelifted Outlander PHEV gets a different four-spoke steering with mounted controls and silver finish. The dashboard layout is the same as the standard Outlander with the RPM gauge being replaced by a power delivery gauge for the electic motor.

In terms of features, the Outlander PHEV facelift gets the features from the standard Outlander along with a Multi-around View Monitor that provides the driver with a bird’s eye view of the vehicle and an Unintentional Move Off Control system that aims to reduce accident damage by controlling the speed if the driver accidently presses the accelerator and moves towards an obstacle.

In terms of performance, the Outlander PHEV facelift retains its old engine and electric motor combination. The set-up has however, been tweaked to reduce friction and boost economy. Mitsubishi claims that the new SUV’s economy has been improved by around eight percent.

The facelifted Outlander PHEV goes on sale internationally in July 2015.
