Mercedes-Benz records strong growth in Q2

The German automaker sees an increase of 43 percent for Q2 year-on-year; confirms AMG GT for this year.

The quarterly sales figures for Mercedes have revealed a growth of 43 percent year-on-year for the period from April to June 2015. The manufacturer achieved sales of 3,093 units as compared to the 2,163 units of last year in the same quarter.

The company also recorded its highest growth in the months between January to June with total sales grossing to 6,659 units, a growth of 41 percent year-on-year, with the previous year’s amounting to 4,717 units The combined sales for these months also nearly equalled the company’s annual sales for the year 2012 which amounted to 7,138 units.

Speaking on the occasion, Eberhard Kern, managing director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “In the first six months of 2015, we sold almost as many cars as in the entire year of 2012. We created a strong growth momentum in Q1 taking clear sales lead, and are glad to sustain this stellar growth story in Q2 as well. We are on track with our long-term objective of achieving a sustained profitable growth for our business in India. This performance firmly underlines the acceptance of our customer focused approach”. Kern also added, “With some of the most awaited products in the pipeline for the remaining two quarters, including the much awaited AMG GT, Mercedes-Benz is all set for another year of strong growth”.

This year saw Mercedes launch a slew of new models, as well as add to its list of locally assembled cars. This list currently is at six models with the diesel GLA, the C-class, the E-class, the S-class, the M-class and the GL-class. Mercedes has also said that nine more models are to be launched in the second half of this year.
