The Quanto, Mahindra’s first attempt at a compact SUV, has been revived in the form of the NuvoSport. With an all-new fascia, lots of black cladding to give it a beefy look, a new chassis and an improved engine, the NuvoSport is quite a departure from the Quanto. Here are five things you should know about it:
1. The NuvoSport is more than just a Quanto facelift:
It is true that the NuvoSport is an evolution of the Quanto, but it is not just a refresh. It uses an all-new hydroformed ladder-frame chassis like the TUV300 and the Scorpio instead of the heavy last-gen chassis of the Quanto. The thoroughly revised engine and radically different fascia are the other features that make it an all-new car .
2. There is still some Quanto left in the NuvoSport:
There are a few Quanto bits still lurking around in the NuvoSport. The sides are identical to the Quanto’s and the rear end is nearly the same. However, it is the interiors that are most similar to the Quanto’s. You get the awkwardly shaped AC vents and the really wide transmission tunnel. There are, however, a few new elements in the NuvoSport's cabin. The upright centre console now hosts a Kenwood touchscreen infotainment system, and some switchgear has been borrowed from the TUV300.
3. The NuvoSport scores big on cabin space:
Like its predecessor, cabin space is ample in the NuvoSport. It has wheelbase longer than the TUV300's, which affords it better legroom. It also wider, resulting in more space in the pair of jump seats at the rear (yes, this too is a seven-seater). The middle row is where the ample space is most evident though, underscored by a large and supportive seat.
