The deterioration of the Indian rupee’s value is now beginning to affect prices in the luxury segment of the Indian auto industry with Audi being the first carmaker to raise prices by around 4 percent across its model range here.

The Q5 will see a price increase of Rs 1.52 lakh, while the A6 will be dearer by Rs 1.8 lakh and the R8 will witness a Rs 4.42 lakh hike.

The company has cited the weakening rupee and rising input costs as the reason for this bump in price tag across its models.

“However, we are offering the customers customized and innovative finance options from Audi Finance which will make their purchase more attractive,” said Audi India boss Michael Perschke.

According to market sources, other manufacturers will also be announcing price increases soon.
