Jaguar has launched a new 2.0-litre petrol variant of its XF sedan, priced at Rs 48.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The all-aluminium 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine develops a class-leading 237bhp and 34.7kgm of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Jaguar claims a 0-100kph time of 7.9 seconds with a top-speed limited to 250kph. In terms of efficiency, the new XF 2.0 has a combined ARAI fuel economy of 10.8kpl.

On the outside, the new Jaguar XF 2.0 comes with auto-levelling Xenon headlamps and daytime running lights as standard. On the inside, it’s equipped with dual-zone climate control, an electric sunroof, blue halo illumination and mood lighting, front courtesy foot well lights and an electrically operated rear windscreen blind, rear camera, TV Tuner and satellite navigation among other features. There is also an option of four interior trim combinations.

Its closest competitor is the Mercedes E 200 CGI, which costs Rs 44.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) with a further discount of around Rs 2 lakh being offered at the moment. At 184bhp, the E 200 CGI produces lesser power than the 2.0-litre Jaguar XF but, its rear seats offer more space than the Jaguar’s. This is the third car to have received Jaguar’s engine downsizing strategy, which started with the XJ 2.0 and was followed by the XF 2.2 diesel, allowing Jaguar to price its cars in the same ballpark as its German rivals.
