Tata Motors is looking at introducing automatic variants of the Indica Vista and new Indigo.
There has been a steady increase in demand for features like central locking and power windows in the hatchback as well as entry level sedans with Indian customers.
With no diesel hatch backs or entry level saloons available with an automatic transmission in the country, Tata may produce a winner if it manages to price the Automatics correctly.
The company has a choice of automatic transmissions from Fiat and the company is currently evaluating CVT and the conventional torque converter options.
