Hyundai has revealed one more concept at the Seoul motor show after the Enduro concept, the RM15. Based on last year's Veloster RM concept, RM15 stands for Racing Midships 2015.
The new concept features a lot of advance technology and advanced materials. Built around an aluminium spaceframe and draped in carbon fiber bodywork, it is a light-weight racer. It weighs in at 1,260kg, which is 195 kg less compared to the conventional all-steel structure.
The RM15 gets a more even weight distribution than the Veloster RM concept: 43 percent of the weight is in the front and the remaining 57 percent goes at the back, and the centre of gravity sits just 491mm from the ground.
The RM concept gets a series of modifications which have helped in boosting its performance, handling and efficiency. For example, with the help of a competitive lift-coefficient, at 200km/hr, the aerodynamic downforce is 24kg.
The main highlight of the RM15 is its engine, which is a Theta 2.0-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine. The four-cylinder engine produces 296bhp at 6,000rpm and powers the rear wheels through a six speed manual transmission system. The engine makes 39.1kgm of torque at 2,000rpm, which allows the RM15 to sprint from 0-100kph in a mere 4.7 seconds.
The RM15 features a World Rally Championship-inspired roll cage, which helps in increasing the stiffness. Its livery is similar to Hyundai’s current i20 World Rally Championship, which promotes the company’s ‘N’ performance brand.
