A new Hyundai sports car concept called PassoCorto, meaning short wheelbase in Italian, will be unveiled at the Geneva motor show starting next week. The two-seater concept has been designed by students from the IED design school in Turin, in collaboration with Hyundai.

The PassoCorto concept is 4,100mm long and 1,880mm wide, with a height of 1,160mm and a wheelbase of 2,450mm. The sporty concept will be powered by a mid-mounted 262bhp, 1.6-litre four-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine.

The concept is loaded with a large central air intake at the front, thin LED DRL strips, a creased bonnet and large vents on the side for air intake. At the rear, the concept tapers to a point with single lightening bar and high-mounted exhausts.

The Korean manufacturer had sent students at IED design school a brief of designing a car for a young audience that's always connected to the web and social media. The team was lead by Pininfarina designer Luca Borgogno and Hyundai's European design centre.

Although the concept will be at display in Geneva, Hyundai has confirmed that the PassoCorto concept is purely for design study purposes, and will not go into production. The car will be on showcase alongside Hyundai's hydrogen-powered Intrado concept in Geneva.
