Ford India has issued an official recall for approximately 42,300 Figo and Aspire models due to a software issue in the Restraint Control Module (RCM). The software glitch could result in the airbags not deploying in time in certain collisions.

The recall applies to all Figo and Aspire models manufactured at the carmaker's new Sanand plant. To rectify the issue, Ford dealerships will carry out a software upgrade on all the affected cars, at no extra cost.

According to an official statement,  the carmaker has already implemented the upgrade on the cars in stock with Ford dealers, and deliveries of these models have been resumed.

The Ford Figo hatchback takes on the likes of the Maruti Swift and Hyundai Grand i10, while the Aspire compact sedan rivals the likes of the Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and
Tata Zest.
