Ford receives over 9,300 orders for new Mustang

Ford received over 9,300 applications for its new Mustang when it opened pre-registrations for the European version of the sports car at the UEFA Champions League Final.

Ford, which is a sponsor of European club football's biggest competition, had opened online booking slots for prospective buyers to reserve one of the 500 Mustangs built for Europe.
 
Ford reported that it received 500 registrations in about 30 seconds of the referee blowing his whistle to start the match. Registrations closed when the game between Real Madrid and Altético Madrid ended after 120 minutes.
 
The new Ford Mustang will be the first ever that will be available for Europe with it goes on sale next year.
 
Roelant de Waard, vice president, marketing, sales & service, Ford of Europe said: “We knew there was huge excitement building for the new Ford Mustang coming to Europe, but the response during the Champions League final was overwhelming." 
 
The 500 new Mustangs are allocated across 20 countries, including 130 right-hand-drive cars for United Kingdom. The successful applicants will be notified in the next few weeks, and then each customer will be invited to complete their order at a Ford dealership.
 
The new Mustangs are available with fastback and convertible models, with a choice of either the new 305bhp 2.3-litre four-cylinder Ecoboost engine making , 42kgm of torque, or the 5.0-litre V8 producing 420bhp and 54kgm. 
 
These 500 examples of the Mustang also will offer Ford’s Sync 2 connectivity and navigation system, heated and ventilated seats, park assist, black leather trim, chrome detailing and 19in alloy wheels.
