Indian version of the Cross Polo may get styling cues from the international model pictured here.

The Volkswagen Cross Polo has been in the market for about two years now, and apart from a minor update that matched up its interiors to the facelifted Polo, the car has otherwise remained unchanged.

The Cross Polo was one of the first crossover hatchbacks to enter the Indian market and now with rivals in the form of the Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and Hyundai i20 Active, Volkswagen is mulling over giving the car a bigger update by the end of 2015. In terms of features, the Cross Polo has remained on par with its standard hatchback sibling, the Polo, with nearly all components shared between the two cars. VW is now considering an update that would mean giving it larger 16-inch wheels and adding more features to the model to differentiate it from its standard hatchback sibling. The carmaker has plans to also bolster the car to stand up to the feature-rich i20 Active.

The updated Cross Polo may also get styling cues from its international model line that underwent a facelift early 2014, to help differentiate it from the regular Polo.
