Chevrolet Beat (Spark in global markets).

In the latest milestone, Chevrolet has surpassed 1 million global sales of the Beat hatchback, the car that is sold overseas under the Spark name.

The Beat was launched in India in late 2009. Available in both petrol and diesel guise, the company claims to have sold more than 1,78,000 units of the car in India. The Chevrolet Beat is available in 71 markets worldwide, with highest sales in South Korea, followed by the United States and Mexico.

“Our small segment vehicles attract more new car buyers to Chevrolet than any other vehicles in the lineup, with more than 60 percent of buyers never owning a Chevy before,” said Alan Batey, executive VP, Chevrolet Global.

GM India recently started export of the car from its Talegaon manufacturing facility to Chile in South America. More export markets for the India-made Beat are currently under consideration.
