Car manufacturers have had a yet another strong month with sales chart for February showing in the green.

Country’s largest carmaker, Maruti was on top with a growth of up to 20 percent. The company sold over 1.11 lakh units in February this year, which includes around 10,000 units of exports. The company had sold a total of 96,650 vehicles in February last year. For Maruti, the A2, A3 and the C (Omni and Eeco) segments continued to grow at a rate of 19 percent, 27 percent and 26.9 percent respectively. The company also managed to sell around 25 Kizashis that made its debut in the same month.

Tata Motors also registered strong sales figures that grew by 15 percent for the month in question. Tata managed to sell 8,262 units of the Nano and 8,966 units of the Indigo range which grew by 101percent and 22 percent respectively.

Ford India too ended the month on a positive note, achieving a 188 percent increase in sales as compared to the same month last year. The company sold close to 9300 vehicles as compared to 3223 units in February 2010. The Figo, which celebrates its one-year anniversary this month, continued to post strong sales numbers, driving the company’s charge in India.

Hyundai in comparison has had a subdued month with the domestic sales rising by just 5 percent. The exports have dipped down by 17.9 percent. Skoda Auto India had a strong show with sales growth of 39.17 percent, mainly achieved by the Yeti and the new Fabia launched a couple of months back. Mahindra also managed to sell around 1,150 Logans for February 2011 – more than double it sold in February last year - thanks to the launch of a CNG version of the saloon in the month of January 2011.
