Bentley has confirmed that it will be developing a second SUV model that will slot in under the Bentayga and target a younger customer base. The British brand also stated that it would be developing a sportscar, though the SUV would take precedence over the said model.

In terms of size, Bentley’s new SUV is expected to be somewhere between the Porsche Cayenne and Macan and is to be the first of the two models to hit showrooms, with the SUV expected to make its debut in concept form in 2017. The SUV is expected to share features with the Bentayga such as parts of the chassis along with the running gear. This means that the small SUV could also be powered by the new 6.0-litre W12 as on the Bentayga, and the new V8 diesel and PHEV powertrains that are to debut on the larger SUV.

The SUV is expected to get a more modern styling while also staying close to the family style seen on Bentley models. The model is yet to receive the nod from VW’s top-level management though Bentley CEO, Wolfgang Durheimer said that the model was already in the design stages.

The new sportscar on the other hand is expected to follow the design language of the EXP10 Speed Six concept that made its debut earlier this year. Durheimer said that the concept had received a tremendous response from potential customers.

The sportscar is likely to be powered by Bentley’s V8 petrol engines, but it is possible that an all-electric four-wheel-drive model making around 500bhp on tap and a range of 500km could also be developed.

The Bentley sportscar is expected to make its debut sometime in 2020, after the launch of the small SUV.
