Audi India has added another variant to its R8 supercar lineup;  this time, it’s the soft top R8, dubbed the R8 Spyder, available only with the V10 motor. It joins R8 V8 and R8 V10 hardtop siblings, already on sale in India.

The R8 V10 Spyder retains the looks of the R8 V10 coupe sans the roof. The engine is same as the one that powers the R8 V10 coupe, a 5.2-litre Lamborghini-sourced one, produces 518bhp and 54.1kgm of torque. 

The R8 Spyder has thicker A and B-pillars together with added braces and panels in the floor that make up for some of the stiffness, which is lost as there is no roof.

The top is fabric and weighs about 30kg, opening and closing in 19 seconds at speeds up to 50kph. The heated glass rear window is separate from the top itself and can raise and lower independently. The R8 V10 spyder is priced at Rs 1.47 crore.
