Fiat will launch its high-performance Abarth brand in India on August 4, 2015. The first model to be introduced from the Fiat Abarth line-up for India will be the Abarth 595, which is based on the Fiat 500 hatchback.
The Abarth 595 is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol motor good for a meaty 158bhp. The car also gets a much stiffer suspension set-up and a unique body kit. It sits lower and has large 17-inch rims with 205/40 Pirelli Zeros. It will be a full CBU import and is likely to be priced around Rs 27-30 lakh.
Much more exciting though are the cars that will follow after — the Fiat Punto Evo Abarth and the Avventura Abarth. These two models will also get the 1.4-litre T-Jet motor, albeit in a slightly lower 135bhp state of tune. These models are expect to hit Indian showrooms later this year.
