The Autocar India Car of the Year award may have gone to the new Maruti Swift, but which car is the best in the entire Asian continent?  Autocar India will take part in the region’s first and only multi-market award recognising the best production car in all of Asia. The event is organised by the Haymarket Group, publishers of Autocar India and all the other Autocar local-market licensees across the region. The winner will be chosen by a panel of 18 auto experts from each edition of Autocar published in Asian countries – including Autocar India’s very own editor Hormazd Sorabjee and deputy editor Shapur Kotwal.

The contenders for the first ever award are the Audi A6, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Passat, Kia Sportage, Ford Fiesta saloon and the Volvo S60. The winner will be announced in late March 2012 and the trophy for the Autocar Asian Car of the Year 2012 will be presented to the awardee at the Beijing Motor Show in late April 2012.
