Jawa 42 All Stars gets comprehensive updates
The Jawa 42 All Stars completes the brand's three-bike All Stars range, joining the 42 FJ and 42 Bobber. Jawa describes it as the flagship of the range and says it represents the biggest evolution yet of the motorcycle that established the brand's modern-classic category in India.
The most noticeable changes are to the motorcycle's stance and rear section. It gets redesigned side panels, a wider rear fender, new alloy wheels and a more compact upswept twin-exhaust setup. The rear tyre is now a wider 150/70-17 unit, giving the 42 a broader footprint. The seat has also been redesigned with additional cushioning while retaining its characteristic flat, bench-like profile.
The 42 retains several of its familiar design elements, including the round headlamp and 13.2-litre fuel tank. Jawa says the revised exhaust also allows for more resilient water-wading.
Chassis and engine
The updates extend beyond the styling, with Jawa making changes to the motorcycle's mass, frame and swingarm stiffness, ergonomics, handling and comfort. The company says these changes are intended to make the evolved 42 more agile and controlled without losing its approachable character.
The Jawa 42 continues to use a 294.72cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-cooled DOHC engine paired with a six-speed constant-mesh gearbox. It produces 27.19hp at 7,950rpm and 26.3Nm at 6,000rpm.
Braking hardware comprises a 280mm front disc and 240mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS. Suspension is via 35mm telescopic forks at the front and gas-filled twin shock absorbers with adjustable preload at the rear. The bike continues to weigh 175kg, has a 1,369mm wheelbase and 173mm of ground clearance.
