  • The new Honda WR-V facelift has been launched digitally with prices start at Rs 8.50 lakh and going up to Rs 10.99 lakh
  • There's petrol and diesel engine options and two trim levels to choose from
  • Majority of the changes compared to the previous model are cosmetic in nature

It's been a bit of a wait but the Honda WR-V facelift has just been launched digitally in our market, with prices ranging from Rs 8.50-10.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The launch of the 2020 WR-V facelift was delayed considerably due to the coronavirus pandemic. Like its predecessor, the updated WR-V is available with petrol and diesel engine options, but unlike the pre-facelift model, both engine options are available in just two trim levels – SV and VX.

2020 Honda WR-V prices (ex-showroom, Delhi)

SVRs 8.50 lakhRs 9.80 lakh
VXRs 9.70 lakhRs 10.99 lakh

How different is the 2020 WR-V on the outside?

Honda has made quite a few visual changes that do help make the model look fresh. Among these changes are the more pronounced creases on the front bumper, a new grille with horizontal slats, and new LED projector headlights along with LED tail-lights. There's new 16-inch alloy wheels too - the petrol version gets 4-hole Berlina Black wheels while the diesel model gets 5-hole Shark Grey units. What has been carried over from the pre-facelift model are the roof rails and LED DRLs.

Honda offers the updated WR-V in six exterior colour options - Premium Amber Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Golden Brown Merallic, Platinum White Pearl and Radiant Red Metallic. The white finish costs Rs 4,000 extra.

Are there any changes to the 2020 WR-V’s features list?

As we had previously reported, there aren’t many changes with this facelift in terms of the features on offer. The most noticeable differences are the updated fabric patterns and cabin upholstery. Nonetheless, the 2020 WR-V comes with a sufficient amount of kit on both trims levels.

The entry-level WR-V SV comes with dual front airbags, a rear defogger, a rear parking camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, projector headlights, LED DRLs, driver’s seat height adjust, power folding and adjustable ORVMs, power windows, automatic climate control, the 7.0-inch Digipad 2.0 touchscreen infotainment interface, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility and SD card-based navigation.

Features such as a rear wiper, LED headlights, tail-lights and fog lights, a front centre armrest, cruise control, keyless entry and go, a leather-wrapped steering and a powered sunroof are on offer on the top-spec WR-V VX.

What engine and gearbox options are available with the 2020 WR-V?

Barring updates to make them BS6-compliant, the engine options are identical to the pre-facelift model. The petrol engine is the 1.2-litre unit that produces 90hp and 110Nm of torque, and the diesel offering is the 1.5-litre diesel unit making 100hp and 200Nm of torque.

In terms of gearboxes, the 1.2-litre petrol engine comes with a 5-speed manual unit, while the 1.5-litre diesel mill gets a 6-speed manual as standard fit. Unfortunately, Honda will not offer a automatic transmission with the WR-V facelift. In diesel-manual guise, the 2020 WR-V has an ARAI-rated mileage of 23.7kpl, while the petrol-manual can go 16.5km on a litre.

What are the 2020 WR-V’s competitors?

Given its size and pricing, the WR-V competes with offerings from the compact SUV segment, like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. Additionally, Honda is offering the WR-V facelift with a 3-year/unlimited kilometre warranty as standard in order to provide peace of mind to its customers.
