Volkswagen Polo 1.0 TSI price, variants explained

The range-topping Polo Highline Plus variant is only available with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine but gets 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.

While Volkswagen may have revealed prices for the BS6-compliant Polo early in March, quite a few details were still unknown, such as the safety kit and features on offer. By the end of last month, the creature comforts and safety features on offer with the entry-level and mid-spec Polo variants had been revealed, but the range-topping versions had not yet been explained. Now, we’ve got information that confirms what features will be available on the Polo Highline Plus.

First, a quick recap on the 2020 Volkswagen Polo. It’s available with two BS6-compliant petrol engines – a 76hp, 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated unit and a 110hp, 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol unit; a 5-speed manual is standard on the former, while the latter gets 6-speed manual and torque convertor automatic options. Volkswagen offers the BS6 Polo in three variants – the lower two get the 1.0 MPI engine while the top-spec gets the 1.0 TSI mill – prices for which are listed below:

The top-spec 2020 Polo 1.0 TSI Highline Plus’ closest rival is the 100hp Hyundai Grand i10 Nios 1.0 Turbo, which costs Rs 7.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is available in the mid-spec Sportz variant.
