The 2026 Tata Punch EV has scored a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult and child occupant protection with 31.09/32 and 45/49 points, respectively. This is the second time the Punch EV has been tested by Bharat NCAP. Interestingly, the adult occupant protection score has come down marginally since it was last tested in 2024, although child occupant protection remains unchanged. For reference, the pre-facelift Punch EV had scored 31.46/32 and 45/49 in AOP and COP respectively.

The report noted that the protection offered to the driver’s and the passenger’s head and neck region was good, although protection to the driver’s chest and knee area was adequate; protection for the co-passenger’s knee was also only adequate. The 2026 Punch EV secured 15.28 out of 16.00 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. In the side movable deformable barrier test, the Punch EV secured 15.80 out of 16.00, offering good protection overall. In the side pole impact test, it was rated OK. The Punch EV also complied with ESC test requirements.
2026 Tata Punch EV child occupant score explained
In the child occupant protection, the Punch EV secured 45 out of 49 points. It got full points in the dynamic test (24/24) and CRS installation test (12/12) and scored 9 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment test. Both the 18-month-old and the 3-year-old child dummies were tested in rearward-facing child seats positioned in the front passenger seat, secured by ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg.
2026 Tata Punch EV tested variant and safety features
Bharat NCAP tested the Adventure 40 and Empowered+ 40 variants of the Punch EV, but the rating applies to the entire lineup. As standard, the Punch EV comes equipped with six airbags, ISOFIX mounts for rear outboard seats, 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats and ESC. It also complies with AIS-100 pedestrian protection norms.
