Jaguar had previously pushed back the global debut of its new four-door electric grand tourer from last year to 2026, and we now know it is set for September. Reports suggest the delay was triggered by a cyberattack, which forced the carmaker to halt production at its Solihull plant, where the upcoming Jaguar EV, previewed by the 2024 Type 00 concept, will be manufactured. Notably, the GT will be the first model to debut after Jaguar’s shift to an all-electric brand.

New Jaguar four-door electric GT details
Underpinned by JEA EV architecture
Built on the new JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture) dedicated EV platform, the GT uses a triple-motor setup with peak outputs of over 1,000hp and 1,300Nm, along with torque vectoring to manage power across the wheels. It will deliver over 700km of single-charge range on the WLTP cycle and is capable of achieving a range top-up of up to 321km in 15 minutes. Air suspension and twin-valve active dampers will also be available, which should enhance ride comfort.
Coming to the exterior, the car takes design cues from the Type 00 concept, with an upright nose, a long flat bonnet, a sloping roofline and a short rear deck, giving it a classic GT stance. While the Type 00 concept is a 2-door, the production car will be a 4-door GT and retain the same stance, Jaguar had stated earlier.
Previously, we spotted a large rectangular grille-like piece up front on a test mule, but since this is an EV, it seems to be a styling detail rather than for cooling purposes. Autocar UK said that the car will have “a distinctive new grille motif envisioned as the new face of the Jaguar brand”. The carmaker even claims that it looked back at icons like the XK120, E-Type, XJ Coupe V12, XJS and XJ Series I to shape what would make the “new luxury GT a true Jaguar”.
New Jaguar four-door electric GT India launch
2027 or 2028
The production-spec four-door GT will be rolled out in phases – markets like the UK and US will get it first, and India will be covered under the second phase. “Late 2026 into early 2027 is when we should launch the 4-door in India,” Jaguar MD Rawdon Glover told us during the preview of the Type 00 in 2024, but as things stand, Jaguar could bring the EV to India sometime next year or in 2028.
