Mahindra will start accepting pre-bookings of the upcoming XUV 7XO, which is essentially the XUV700 facelift, from December 15. From 12pm onwards, customers will be able to pre-book the brand's updated ICE SUV flagship for a token amount of Rs 21,000.
- Mahindra has so far teased just the 2026 XUV 7XO exterior features
- XEV 9e-like three-screen setup, two-spoke steering wheel expected
- 2L turbo-petrol, 2.2L diesel engine options likely to be carried over
Debuting on January 5, 2026, the Mahindra XUV 7XO will be the second model to use Mahindra's newer nomenclature, following the XUV 3XO, which is the facelifted XUV300. Notably, Mahindra had filed trademark applications for the 7XO and 3XO names in 2024, alongside 1XO and 5XO.
Mahindra XUV 7XO teasers explained
Lighting elements inspired by XEV 9S EV
In the lead-up to its India debut, Mahindra has been drip-feeding teasers of the 2026 SUV, highlighting its key exterior details. These include XEV 9S-like lighting elements, including boomerang-shaped DRLs, trapezoidal front LED light units and new tail-lights with hexagonal detailing, and a revised front grille. Going by the recent spy shots, minimal sheet metal changes and updates to the bumpers are expected.
While Mahindra has not yet given any interior details of the upcoming 7XO, it could feature upgrades such as a three-screen setup and a new two-spoke steering wheel, just like the XEV 9S and XEV 9e. The 6- and 7-seater layouts are expected to continue, but it’s unclear whether the 7XO will add a 5-seat option. Notably, the current XUV700’s 5-seater variants were discontinued in May this year.
Mahindra XUV 7XO engine and gearbox options
200hp turbo petrol and 155hp/185hp diesel choices may be carried over
No changes are expected under the hood, and the facelifted SUV should continue with XUV700's 200hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 155hp/185hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine options. Both offer manual and automatic transmission choices, with the diesel also available with an AWD system.
Mahindra XUV 7XO price estimate and rivals
To compete with Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar
With the current Mahindra XUV700 price range between Rs 13.66 lakh and Rs 23.71 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated model is likely to see a slight bump thanks to the upgrades. Like the XUV700, the 7XO will go against the likes of the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and Hector Plus SUVs.
