The BS6 Mahindra Marazzo MPV is going to be launched soon, after quite a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To help it comply with the new emissions regulations, the engine will feature a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system with a rear-mounted urea tank to help reduce NOx emissions. As we had previously reported, Mahindra will rejig the Marazzo line-up, consolodating it to just three trim levels, the top-most of which will be the new M6+ trim.

  • Re-jigged line-up will comprise three trims – M2, M4+ and M6+

  • Will get a BS6-compliant 123hp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine

  • New Marazzo petrol will be launched later this year

What upgrades will the BS6 Marazzo diesel engine get?

The BS6 Mahindra Marazzo diesel will use an upgraded version of its current, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, which puts out 123hp and 300Nm of torque.  The engine will, as before, be paired to a 6-speed manual, but Mahindra is also working on an AMT gearbox option, which is expected to arrive later this year.

What’s new on the BS6 Marazzo’s feature list?

With the update in the Marazzo’s variant line-up, the features available on each trim level have also been shuffled around. Here is what’s new on each trim:

Marazzo M2

The equipment on offer in the base M2 variant remains unchanged. It still gets dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, an engine immobilizer, power windows, central locking, a USB charging point for rear passenger, fabric seat upholstery, roof-mounted rear AC vents, outside mirrors with integrated turn indicators and more.

Marazzo M4+

This variant gets everything that was available on the previous M4 trim, like driver’s seat height adjust, a front USB socket, USB and AUX input for rear passengers, a rear wiper and washer, a voice messaging system and electrically adjustable outside mirrors. However, it now gets additional features like 16-inch alloy wheels, a rear defogger, keyless entry, a 4.2-inch infotainment screen with USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity, and steering-mounted controls.

Marazzo M6+

As this is the new top-spec trim, it gets everything from the older M6 trim, including front and rear fog lamps, projector headlamps, cornering lamps, premium fabric upholstery, adjustable lumbar support for the front seats, a conversation mirror and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation.

Over and above all this, the M6+ also inherits some features from the now-discontinued M8 trim, like 17-inch alloy wheels, auto climate control, rear parking camera with guideline and one-touch operation for the driver’s side window.

That said, some features from the M8 won’t make it, such as the leatherette upholstery, cooled glovebox with illumination, cruise control and power folding mirrors. However, considering the BS4 M8 was almost Rs 50,000 more expensive at Rs 13.98 lakh (8 seater), than the expected price of this new BS6 M6+ (Rs 13.49 lakh), the lack of some features is understandable.

When will the Mahindra Marazzo get a petrol engine?

Mahindra is expected to introduce a petrol-powered Marazzo later this year. The engine in question will be a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 163hp and 280Nm of torque, from the new Mahindra mStallion engine family. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard and there will be an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic as well.

What new launches does Mahindra have lined up?

Besides the price announcement for the BS6 Marazzo later this month, Mahindra will unveil the all-new Thar on August 15, 2020. The carmaker will also introduce the BS6-compliant versions of the TUV300 and TUV300 Plus later this year. Another major model in the works is the all-new XUV500, which will be launched only in 2021.
