Ford has introduced the FordPass connected car technology across its range in India. Starting with the BS6-compliant EcoSport, from now on, all Ford models will be equipped with the connectivity suite at no extra cost.
FordPass works on an in-built 4G data connection that will be free for the first three years from the date of purchase. Buyers will have access to the FordPass application on their phones, through which they can control various operations like starting, stopping, locking or unlocking the car. The FordPass app has been categorised into four main sections – Accounts, Move, Find and Guide.
Under the Accounts section, owners will be able to grant authorization for the temporary use of their vehicle, and book test drives for other Ford vehicles. Meanwhile, the Move function provides real-time vehicle information like tyre pressures, fuel level, odometer reading, and allows for remote start/stop and lock/unlock of the vehicle via the app.
The FordPass’ Find function helps owners locate nearest fuel stations, local point of interests and nearby Ford dealers, while the Guide function provides help to owners by calling a Ford guide or roadside assistance in case of a breakdown.

In line with our vision, we are now democratizing in-car technologies by offering the connected car solutions across the model range, free of cost.”
Ford’s BS6 range in India only consists of the EcoSport SUV for now, which has been priced from Rs 8.04 lakh. The compact SUV will soon be joined by the full-sized Endeavour SUV with a new BS6-compliant 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine and a 10-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The carmaker's smaller offerings, the Figo, Freestyle and Aspire will also be upgraded to BS6 in the coming weeks.
