Also known as the Yuan Plus in China, the BYD Atto 3 now comes with a raft of design and technical updates over the existing model. The new-gen Atto 3’s global debut comes just a couple months after the introduction of the Atto 3 Evo in India.

  1. Sports new LED lighting, 19-inch alloys and a new steering wheel design
  2. Gets a panoramic glass roof, 16-speaker audio system and more
  3. Second-gen Blade Battery packs; 57.54kWh and 68.54kWh versions

New-gen BYD Atto 3: Design and interior

The new model is larger than the existing Atto 3

The China-spec BYD Atto 3 now gets a revised front fascia with a new sculpted bumper. The design updates include new alloy wheels that are up to 19 inches, semi-flush door handles, a 'floating roof' effect towards the rear and new LED tail-lights. Furthermore, the updated rear facade sports an illuminated BYD logo.

The new model measures 4,665mm in length, 1,895mm in width and 1,675mm in height. This makes it 210mm longer, 20mm wider and 60mm taller than the model that is on sale in India at the moment. Similarly, the wheelbase of the new Atto 3 has grown by 50mm, now stretching to 2,770mm. Its larger physical footprint should grant this EV more road presence and space on the inside. BYD claims that the new-gen Atto 3 has a boot space of 750 litres, plus an additional 180 litres of space in the frunk.

Among the various storage areas in this EV’s interior, there is a heated & cooled box as well. The rest of the new Atto 3’s features include a panoramic glass roof, a 256-colour ambient lighting system, a 16-speaker audio rig, 50W wireless charging and 60W USB Type-C charging. The new-gen BYD Atto 3 will be available in China in two battery capacities: 57.54kWh and 68.54kWh. These battery packs feature BYD’s second-gen Blade Battery technology, and they have a China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) range of 540km and 630km, respectively. Either way, these batteries now power a rear-mounted electric motor, which will be available in 272hp and 327hp guises. The next-gen BYD Atto 3 will also offer the brand’s ‘Flash Charging’ technology. According to BYD, this new fast-charging system can take the battery from 10-97 percent in just 9 minutes.

The BYD Atto 3 is the most affordable model in the brand's line-up in India, and while there is no official confirmation from BYD yet, it could bring the new-gen Atto 3 to India.
