Honda Hornet 1000 SP expert review
9
The Honda Hornet CB1000 is a big motorcycle, but it doesn't feel overdone. Build quality is impressive, and despite its aggressive look, it has plenty of thoughtful touches that make everyday use easier. The only real irritation is Honda's inverted horn and indicator switch layout, which still takes time to get used to.
8
One of the Hornet's biggest surprises is how approachable it feels. The 809mm seat height, light clutch and comfortable riding position make it far less intimidating than most litre-class motorcycles. The suspension also copes well with broken roads, although the firm seat can become uncomfortable on longer rides. You do need to be careful over speed breakers because of the low 135mm ground clearance.
9
The Fireblade-derived 1000cc engine is the highlight of the Hornet. It feels smooth and easy to manage at low speeds, but the moment you open the throttle, it delivers explosive acceleration with an addictive exhaust note.
9
Despite weighing 212kg, the Hornet feels much lighter once on the move. It changes direction eagerly and feels confident through corners, while the Showa fork and Ohlins rear shock also handles broken roads quite well. Plus, the Brembo brakes offer strong, controllable stopping power.
9
The Hornet gets everything you need without making things complicated. The riding modes, traction control, dual-channel ABS and bi-directional quickshifter all work smoothly in the background. The 5-inch TFT display is clean, easy to navigate and one of the most user-friendly units in this class.
9
At Rs 13.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Hornet CB1000 is an outstanding value. Even before you consider its price, it is an exciting, comfortable and genuinely usable litre-class naked. And once you add Honda's reputation for reliability and reasonable running costs, it becomes a very compelling package.

Honda Hornet 1000 SP FAQs
The Honda Hornet 1000 SP features SHOWA SFF-BP front forks that helps the bike turn smoothly into corners, while the Öhlins rear suspension keeps it stable as you ride through bends. Together, they make the bike feel easy to control on twisty roads.
Riders around 5'7" can put their balls of feet on ground comfortably. However, shorter riders may need to tip-toe, but the CB1000 Hornet SP can still be manageable with the right riding technique.
While riders 5'7" and above can manage to put balls of feet on ground, 1000 Hornet SP 's 17-litre muscular fuel tank may prevents riders (depending on the physique) from anchoring thighs to the tank while allowing only knees to make contact.
