British motorcycle racer, lorry mechanic and occasional TV presenter, Guy Martin, is all set to break the motorcycle land speed record astride the Triumph-made Rocket III Streamliner. The event will take place from 24-27 August, 2015, under the evaluation of the supreme Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), at the Bonneville Speedway, Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

The Triumph Rocket III Streamliner is powered by dual 2,300cc, liquid-cooled engines that together produce 1,000bhp of power at 9,000rpm. The Streamliner uses a carbon Kevlar monocoque construction, and methanol for fuel.

The current world record stands at 974.7kph, set by the Top 1 ‘Ack Attack’, which uses turbocharged, dual Suzuki Hayabusa engines, each with a cubic capacity of 1,300cc.

Only time will tell if Triumph's manic Streamliner and Guy Martin can break the world record and bring home the trophy. More as we get the news.
