With diesel prices decontrolled, the fuel’s price has seen a gradual increase over the last few months. And after the last diesel price hike by 90 paise, the fuel’s per litre cost in Goa stood at Rs 52.70. Petrol in the state is priced at Rs 52.10. This was a result of the state government last year slashing VAT to 0.1 percent which cut petrol prices by a whopping Rs 11 per litre.
So, in a reversal of fuel price trend whereby diesel has always been cheaper than petrol across the country, Goa is the first state to see a balancing out of the price disparity between the two fuels.
