Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has sprung a welcome surprise by adding yet another model to its existing scooter line-up. Called the ‘Activa i,’ this new scooter slots in below the existing HET technology scooter models, the Aviator, Activa and Dio, with an attractive price tag of Rs 44,200 (ex-showroom, Delhi). That’s Rs 3000 lower than the standard model Activa today.

The unisex Activa i also provides HET technology, and targets buyers in the 25-30 year old age group with styling that is correspondingly quite sleek. There's a hint of the Aviator in the front, with twin indicator strips flanking a neatly rounded front apron. The upward sweeping side panels are smartly styled too while the tail-light with a multi-reflector element adds a touch of sportiness. Other highlights include a rear wheel hugger and lockable 18litre underseat storage bay, same size as earlier. The two-tone instruments look chic and include a speedometer, as well as fuel-level indicator.

The Activa i runs the same four-stroke, forced-air cooled, single-cylinder, 109.2cc engine as found on other Honda scooters. Peak power remains unchanged at 8bhp at 7500rpm. The engine features Honda Eco Technology to reduce friction within the engine and enhance fuel-efficiency.
