Ducati and Audi, KTM-Bajaj, TVS-BMW Motorrad, and now, rumors of German automotive giant, Mercedes-Benz forming an alliance with Italian superbike specialist MV Agusta are gaining steam. An attempt by Autocar India to draw a comment from MV Agusta has been luckless till now; the Italian factory has remained tight-lipped, at this stage, about such a possibility, with no official statements available. Several independent websites and sources, however, suggest that Mercedes’s performance wing, AMG is in fact working towards this major two-wheeled bid.

While the household name of Mercedes needs little introduction, MV Agusta, led by a young and dynamic Giovanni Castiglioni offers a virtually unparalleled mix of strong motorcycling heritage with a rich lineage, along with a mouthwatering array of new motorcycle models, making an alliance of this nature exciting, to say the very least. MV Agusta has in the past shared with Autocar India their goal to gain a toehold in the globally important Indian two-wheeler market, and a possible merger of any kind with Mercedes would surely work to give the Italian firm easier access to a wide network on our shores.
