New Indian two-wheeler maker Garware Motors and S&T Motors from Korea have launched their Hyosung branded GT650R and ST7 big bikes in India.

The sporty GT650R comes packed with a liquid cooled, 647cc, V-twin engine developing 72.6bhp at 9000rpm. Priced at Rs 4,75,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) the GT650R aims to fill a void between Indian made sportsbikes like the Yamaha YZF-R15, TVS RTR 180 and Bajaj Pulsar 220 and exorbitantly priced superbikes like Yamaha’s YZF-R1, the Honda CBR1000RR and Suzuki GSX-R1000.

The stylish ST7 is a chrome rich 678.2cc cruiser, offering a maximum of 61.7bhp made at 8000rpm, and a healthy 5.8kgm of torque delivered at 7000rpm. The ST7 is priced at Rs 5,69,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Garware Motors will sell and service these motorcycles through new dealers at Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Goa. Expect 10 more dealerships within the next year.

The smaller capacity Hyosung GT250, an earlier version of which was sold in India is also slated for re-entry into the Indian market. Garware motors will assemble their motorcycles at their Wai facility in Maharashtra.
