Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India recently revealed its latest plan regarding the highly anticipated CBR650F to Autocar Professional. At a round table conference, Keita Muramatsu, president, HMSI, said that Honda plans to start assembling the CBR650F after about two months, starting July 2015.
The assembly of the sportsbike will happen at Honda’s Manesar plant that also houses their head office; two bikes per day will be assembled at the special production line. Honda has sourced about five percent of the bike’s parts locally from India and the rest will be imported here. The Honda CBR650F will be sold and serviced by special sections in Honda’s existing showrooms, from a select 20 locations in India.
Honda will send five technically sound and experienced mechanics to Japan to receive specific technical training to service and maintain technologically advanced bikes,
who in turn will impart the same knowledge to the mechanics here. Keita also revealed that Honda, in the course of time, also plans to bring higher-capacity motorcycles to India once the CBR650F receives decent traction here.
Honda has also confirmed that it will launch new models coming June, July and August across the scooter and motorcycle portfolios, to stay on track to complete the remaining nine product launches this year.
