It was in FY 2001-02 that Honda launched its first automatic scooter, the Activa. Right from the start, the Activa was a strong seller and it registered sales of 3.41 lakh units in FY 2003-04.

Across the last financial year, the Activa managed to outsell all other two-wheelers in India, not once but twice – in September 2013 and March 2014.

Overall, Activa sales grew 65 percent from 1,08,815 units in March 2013 to 1,79,956 units in March 2014.

With a shift in market preference and the increase in demand for automatic scooters, Honda claims that the sales figures would only get stronger, especially with the new Activa 125 all set to make its official entry in India on April 28, 2014.
